Useful habits for aspiring artists

We all know that acquiring habits is much easier than getting rid of them. This means that acquiring useful habits will not allow you to appear harmful, eliminating the need to abandon them, saving time and effort.

Spend some time securing a comfortable place. Choose a time when you are most pleased to do and when you are not worried. It’s hard to create a picture when you constantly look over your shoulder, every minute distract you on the most ridiculous questions or comment on every action. The result is a conflict, explosive situation. There is nothing good in the lack of lighting, noise and loud sounds. This means that the thoughtful organization of place and time should be the first good habit, so that no one and nothing could interfere with your studies.

No. 2 – CLEANNESS AND ORDER IN THE TOOLS
For professionals, this is an obvious thing, and beginners do not immediately realize the benefits and relevance of this habit. Make it a rule to wash brushes and palettes after work. The only exceptions may be palettes with color mixtures mixed for later work. You yourself will be surprised how quickly this will become a habit.

No. 3 – STORAGE OF WORKS
Store finished and unfinished drawings and paintings in folders or on special racks. Thanks to such simple care, they will not crumple and gather dust. A skillful approach to the storage of their own work saves from disappointments and disappointments associated with their loss. Creative people often have a case when the work at some point did not go, but time has passed and I want to return to it. The corresponding mood has returned, and I want to act. It depends only on the formed habit of accuracy, whether you can continue the work that was once begun, postponed until better times, or whether you have to start all over again because of your negligence.

No. 4 – SIGNATURES AND RECORDS
Sign your finished work, enter the time spent on their creation. Such “statistics” will allow you to calculate your strengths, plan your time, track technical successes and achievements. It will be easy for you to identify your “weaknesses” and continue to work on them, acquiring the necessary skills. There are no tricks that are “not given.” There is time spent on training, the development of skills. Records will optimize time. Moreover, the signed painting will save art historians and collectors from the excruciating question: “Who painted this masterpiece?”

No. 5 – SKETCHES AND SKETCHES OF IDEAS
Memory is an unreliable thing, especially when it comes to such a fleeting concept as an idea. And the question is not “head fullness”, but in the characteristics of the psyche. Human perception is mobile. The thought that struck us changes and can easily lose the charm and attractiveness that struck us at the time of its birth. Often it depreciates so quickly that after a couple of hours it is not clear why this idea was so good? Draw and write ideas in special notebooks or albums. If at the moment you do not have enough skill to implement any of them, you can use the fruits of your mental activity later, when all the necessary skills are received and the level of professionalism will increase.

№6 – SHOW YOUR WORKS TO PEOPLE
Of course, we are talking about finished work. Show them to others, even if you are shy, think that you are unworthy, and simply afraid. No one is pleased to hear bad reviews. However, the artist creates for people, which means that acquaintance with the audience’s opinion cannot be avoided. Treat all reviews as an incentive. It doesn’t matter whether they are pleasant or vice versa. This will help to improve as an artist, teach you how to “hold the blow”, develop stress resistance, prepare for art exhibitions and “responses” …
